Use your wire bowl to hold fresh fruit, potpourri or even a small plant.

By the time school ends every year, your kids have inevitably collected stacks of folders, papers and spiral notebooks. You can rip out the papers and recycle them, but what should you do with the leftover wire spines? One idea is to turn all those wire binders into a bowl that’s perfect for holding all the seasonal fruit you’ll buy this summer.
The only other things you’ll need for this project are an old bowl that you won’t mind getting a little roughed up and a sturdy pair of gloves — because we definitely don’t want your hands getting roughed up! And don’t forget all the leftover spirals.
This is also a perfect project for kids because it’s so simple, and they will probably enjoy mangling these reminders of all those days spent stuck in a classroom.

Steps:
- Once you’re all gloved-up, drop some (but not all) of the wire spiral binds into your bowl and begin mashing them all together. They should start to form into one cohesive piece pretty quickly as they get tangled up in each other and flattened against the sides of the bowl. Be sure to form a fairly solid base to your bowl.
- Add more wire as you go, working the pieces into the bottom or sides as needed. Get creative and just let the form of the bowl flow from your hands. There is really no wrong way to do this. Once you like how your bowl looks, you’re done! Add a few lemons, limes or even a small plant and set it someplace where everyone can admire your handiwork.
