This Rohl vessel sink is made from recycled aluminum.

Home construction and remodeling account for 17 percent of landfill waste. When it comes to designing your green bathroom, not only should you consider how to cut your water usage, you should also choose materials that won't one day wind up in a dumpster.

Designer Deborah Crosby of the Green Fusion Design Center recommends a vessel sink made from recycled aluminum, created by artist Jon Grauman for Rohl. "This is an entirely functional sink, but it is like buying a piece of art," says Crosby. Handcrafted from all-renewable materials by the Los Angeles–based artist, these basins will add distinction and lasting durability to your eco-friendly design. In several different finishes, from natural copper to anodized hot lava, the above-counter basin starts at $900, but helps significantly reduce our contribution to landfills.
